Terms of Service

The terms of using Worktree

What you can expect from us, and what we expect from you, when your business uses Worktree.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between Worktree and the business that creates a Worktree account ("you"). They cover the Worktree web app, the worktree companion mobile app and any related services.

By creating an account or using Worktree, you agree to these terms. If you're accepting them on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to do so. Worktree is a tool for businesses and isn't offered to consumers.

Your account

  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep sign-in details secure. You're responsible for activity on your account, including by people you invite and the permissions you give them.
  • If a phone paired with the mobile app is lost or stolen, remove it straight away from Profile → Mobile App in the web app.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

Subscriptions and payment

  • Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. The price depends on the plan you choose, which is set by how many users and employees you have.
  • Prices exclude VAT and other taxes unless we say otherwise.
  • You can cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period you've paid for, and we don't refund part-used periods unless the law requires it.
  • If we change our prices, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before the change affects your subscription.
  • If a payment fails and isn't resolved, we may restrict or suspend your account until it is.

Payments you take with Worktree

The Payment Portal, the point of sale and Tap to Pay in the mobile app take payments through your own Stripe account. Money goes straight to that account, and your use of it is governed by Stripe's own terms.

  • Worktree is not a party to your sales. You're responsible for your products, prices, receipts, refunds, disputes and chargebacks.
  • Tap to Pay needs a compatible phone and is subject to Apple's or Google's terms for that feature.
  • A sale is only recorded as paid once Stripe has confirmed the payment.

Your data

You own the data you put into Worktree. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run the service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for having a lawful basis for the personal data you add, such as details of your employees and customers, and for giving them any privacy information the law requires. For that data, we act as your processor.

You can export your records before closing your account. After an account is closed, we delete its data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use Worktree for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, including selling prohibited goods or services
  • upload malware, or try to break, overload or get around the security of the service
  • access another business's data, or try to
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer Worktree, except where the law allows it
  • use automated tools to scrape the service or misuse the AI features

Not professional advice

Worktree helps you manage payroll, expenses, VAT, invoices and other records, but it doesn't give tax, legal, accounting or employment advice. You're responsible for checking your figures and for your own filings and legal obligations.

AI features

AI receipt scanning and the in-app assistant can make mistakes. Check what they produce before you rely on it. AI features have usage limits and may be paused if they're being misused or a daily limit is reached.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Worktree available and secure, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to take it offline for maintenance.

We improve Worktree over time and may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant that you rely on, we'll tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

Suspension and closing your account

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, puts other customers or the service at risk, or isn't paid. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

Our software

Worktree, including the apps, their design and code, belongs to us. These terms give you the right to use it while your subscription is active and don't transfer any ownership. If you send us feedback or ideas, we're free to use them.

Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
  • We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill.
  • Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll let account holders know at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Worktree after that, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
